For the first time we have decided to set up step by step, an Xmod and thus we will proceed to mount the newly arrived parts from the manufacturer, Atomic. Firstly we must assemble the car that has been sent to us by the Chaves S.A. company who very kindly, as official distributors of this Xmod model in Spain, have provided us with this model especially for this test. ![]() Firstly we begin by assembling the orginal rims so that we can later change them for those provided by Atomic as optional rims. The first detail that comes to our surprise is that the rear rims are not the same as the front ones. There is even a pamphlet which gives an explanation for this difference, and therefore explains why the space bars that come with the kit must be used. ![]() ![]() Once the orgiginal rim has been set up we can observe a very significant wobbling in rear wheel once it has been placed. We try to solve this test of tolerance with the new Atomic rims in order to pinpoint the origin of the problem until we realise that the effect is exactly the same. ![]() ![]() Finally we realise what the source of this movement problem is. Within the rod we find what should be ball bearings made of plastic; these little heads have high resistance and therefore it is vital to use the set of optional ball bearings for these cars. Once installed we have solved 80% of the problem and now we can see that there is only a slight movement of the wheel. ![]() ![]() Finally we have installed the Atomic rim with the ball bearings and the result is pleasing to the eye as well as the hands. We have realized that these rims are slightly different from the original ones in a couple of ways. First of all the rim hole where the rear axle goes is a bit tighter and thus we had to prevent the wheel from wobbling aound the axle and secondly the rim is designed for the use of miniz tires!!! This pleases us given that we can use the Xmod on every type of surface on which we have been racing the miniz. ![]() To see how the new Xmod rims look, we proceed to mount the body, which as is habitual with these cars, tends to be dismounted. ![]() ![]()
