On June 8th the 6hr endurance race in Mulsanne - France was held, in which 13 teams came together representing different areas of France. Curiously enough the race was held next to the premises where 24hr le Mans races are held. For this event we presented two TRP-France teams associated with the Cholet club. Our tactical choice was to create two well balanced teams and on this occaision the Vialle brothers raced separately in different teams. The track was very fast with long straights and with two important decelerations, together with a slow section with very sharp bends. Judging from the training sessions on Saturday we could see that the race would be a difficult one given that the team from Paris had clocked some good lap times of 13.11 seconds with a very powerful car. Our TRP 1 and TRP 2 teams were somewhat slower during these test laps with times of around 13.18 and 13.90 followed by the times of the Dijon team at 14.20sec. The main handicap was choosing the correct tires and most of the teams ruled out the use of rubber tires and opted for the use of foam rear tires and rubber front tires on the carpet surface. The only exception was the TRP2 team that, throughout the race used ATM 10gr tires. During the Sunday qualifiers which lasted for 5 minutes, the TRP-1 team held the pole position on the Paris team. Apart from the initial moments of the race where the Paris team showed signs of wanted to overtake, the TRP-1 dominated throughout. Arnaud Vialle ran the best lap with a time of 12.30s. This round was perfectly organised from start to finish without any significant incidents. The TRP-2 Team had difficulties during the first hour but in the end was able to make a come back; going from 5th place to 3rd place and with only a single lap separating it from the team in 4th place even though, as a result of lots of driving consistency, the TRP-2 team ended up in 2nd place. The prizes were issued by Luc Alphand the former Sky champion who is currently involved mostly in automobile-related activities.
