Last Sunday March 2nd the first race of the Galician electric touring Championship was held.

With new faces in the category we were able to watch a total of 18 drivers, an increase with respect to last year´s total and with the exception of the odd driver, we look forward to seeing them at the next race to be held in Baños de Molgas  (Antonio y Jose Luis Olveira).

The level of driving skills improved although last year´s record wasn´t beaten (13 Vueltas en 5:09.806) even though Alvaro Marrero came close (13 Vueltas en 5:11.499)

The clear dominator of this race was Alvaro Marrero who won 3 of the 5 legs and achieved the fastest time and fastest lap of the day.

Trailing behind, Angel Rodriguez and I tried to give him a hard time, but struggling with the autonomy of our cars made it impossible for us to fight for first place. Nevertheless, the battle with Angel was a clean and competitive one until the very end when we had to do a tie breaker for the 5th place. This was due to the fact that we both had one 1st, two 2nds, and one 3rd but Angel blumbered in one of his legs due to a servo that malfunctioned on the 3rd curve and thus enabled me to make 2nd place overall.

Here´s the Top team with Carlos Blanco, Fernando Meijido, Jose Dubra, Fernando Vieito and Mmg.

In the rear, Jorge Parga and Francisco Priegue with thier unique duel achieve 4th and 5th place. It´s worth mentioning that the level of driving skills by both competitors given that they were faster than Alberto Cornide (6th) and than last year´s rookie pilot, Jose Luis Sabucedo (7th).

As I mentioned previously, new faces in the races, such as Fernando Meijido and Andres Sanchez that trained in competition.

Regarding the material used:

-Chassis : 8 Xray T2 , 5 Top Scythe , 4 Tamiyas (3 TRF415MSX y 1 TA05) and 1 Serpent S400.
-Motors : The most abundant were the LRP-Nosram 4.5 and the odd 4.0 , also Novak 3.5 motors, Mamba 7700 and Orion 3.5 and 5.5
-Wheels: Foam wheels were more prevelant than rubber.
-Car Bodies: The most common were the Protoform Mazda 6.
-Bateries: The most widely used were the 5 cell batteries and in some cases even 6 cells.

As far as my race is concerned, I began it with rubber wheels on the first leg using Take Off 22 and CS additive, heating them with Much More.
The start of the race was complicated because we started in line but I could have finished in 2nd place with problems with autonomy.

For the 2nd leg, I changed over to foam wheels (Ufra 37) because I needed better grip and lost a good 0,2 seconds on the parabolic curve and also a little on the straights. The problem with the legs was always the Orion 3,5 motor that had very high consumption. I therefore lowered the revs of the motor and passed the Punch program of the PC variator to 2. However,  niether by giving it gas nor by driving more smoothly was I able to achieve an autonomy of 4:50 and thus started to lose battery power from this moment on. The motor was clearly the fastest, easily overtaking cars with 6 cells but paying a heavy price on the last lap, thats if it was able to execute.

My Top Scythe with Nosram TC variator, Orion 3.5 motor y 4200SHO batteries.
