Kyosho Ultima DB / Ultima SC: a vehicle for everyone

Written by Tarik Smith in 1 March 2011

This magnificent American-style all terrain replica will delight both those enthusiasts of jumps and other OFF Road excitement, as well as those drivers seeking high performance in competitive racing.
The chassis is made of a high resistance compound. The rear assembly; originally driven by a brushes motor, provides us with a very simple means of operation and settings. The only thing that we need to be mindful of is the rear assembly (originally without setting options), as with the slipper system for grip control.

The independent suspension of all four wheels, with trapeziums and long travel suspension is another one of the features of this model.

This easy-to-operate and low maintenance mechanical base makes the kyosho ULTIA DB a highly recommended vehicle for those entering into the world of RC OFF ROAD for the first time. Its dimensions make it apt for driving on any type of surface; compacted earth, gravel tracks, loose soil (for excellent skidding) snow, or even beach sand (there are paddle wheels that can be mounted on the rear assembly) are just some of the surfaces that the DB has been frequently used on.

Kyosho has recently launched a version of the Ultima DB called Ultima SC (which stands for short course). Although the mechanical base of it remains the same, in this version, different types of body are mounted on the chassis, such as the Short Course-type body (a competition design from the USA).

Of the numerous optional parts that are now available for the kyosho ultima DB, we recommend the following;

Kyosho Ultima DB adjustable ball differential which comes complete with different grease types for adjusting the car set up.
Kyosho Ultima DB Paliers with cardan joints. To avoid power loss in the contact between the palier and the wheel cups, or even breakages at this point, there is a high resistance and stainless steel option that is available:
The kyosho ultima db aluminum support (reinforcement) for the axles of the inner trapezium. this part will provide you with greater rigidity in the rear assembly, great control of the car, and fewer breakages during jumps and accidental collisions.

As you will observe, the Kyosho Ultima DB, in any one of its models, could be considered a vehicle for general leisure use or even for competing Short Course type races (a category which is really beginning to catch on in other countries and will very shortly spread to Spain). As we highlighted before, its mechanical simplicity, the high quality materials that it is made of (something Kyosho is known for) and its esthetic quality, make the Ultima DB an ideal vehicle.
